Professional & Loving Dementia Care
Home is where the heart is
and the home, Highlands Borders is in the Heart of Heavitree, Exeter
The Aim of our Care
Early onset, or Borderline dementia can be very frightening for both the person affected and their loved ones. At Highlands, and at Highlands Borders we recognise and respect this. We are keen to embrace ‘early onset dementia’ in all its many forms. There are more than 17,000 people in Great Britain under 65 with early onset dementia. After much research into facilities for younger people with early onset dementia in and around Devon, we quickly realised that there was a gap in dementia care that needed to be filled. Many people only associate Dementia with much older people. This is not the case. Other conditions can bring dementia into your life. Dementia, does not discriminate.
The Care We Offer
The Aim of Highlands Borders is not only to provide a permanent home for 28 Residents, but also to provide the practical support so necessary while your loved one remains at home with you.
To this end, Borders can offer residential, respite care, day care, lunch club days, and memory café sessions where you can drop in for a cuppa and a chat. You and your loved one will be able to find the stimulation or the peace you need within the lovely atmosphere that is ‘Borders’. Working with you, we will be able to establish the respite you need to enable you to live with the intensity of dementia in your home. Perhaps a couple of hours to go shopping or get your hair done or watch Exeter City beat a team in a local Derby! We’ll be led by you. While you are out, your loved one will be, safe with us and well entertained with a plethora of activities or oceans of tranquillity which will be led by the person whose care has been entrusted to our well prepared team. Your loved one can be sure of a good break themselves, with first class meals, independent choice, and attentive, well trained staff. We are proud to offer a comprehensive, personal service from your very first enquiry. Bringing the care of dementia is not a job at Borders, it is a passion. Dispelling the myth is a way of life to us, as we bring life back to the family of a loved one with dementia. We do not just admit a resident into our care, we admit the whole family into our support. We will be there for you every step of the way. So, why not pop in and have a look, or telephone us to make an appointment to be shown around?
